'Little & Local' Afternoon Taste Tour

Explore the very best of Matakana with our specially curated half-day tour, featuring tastings of exciting new wine vintages at two sustainable vineyards, plus a local artisan food producer. Matakana Tours have been the region's locally based independant, expert tour guide since 2007; offering bespoke introductions to the area's rich and diverse local producers

Tour Highlights

  • The Matakana Coast is known for many boutique award-winning wines - from Chardonnay to Dolcetto. Mostly made in small quantities by passionate winegrowers who don't sell commercially, the majority of  the area's vineyards are sustainable, some organic, but almost all pick by hand

  • We've selected  two boutique vineyards for this tour, where guests can discover a cross-section of very distinct, but very different varietals - from the highly polished to the unconventional.  No two vintages taste the same!  The spectacular scenery as we drive around comes for free

  • You'll be introduced to one of our local winemakers, who loves nothing more than discussing his craft with visitors                                                                                                               
  • We'll also visit a local artisan chocolatier, where you'll sample some delicious award-winning chocolates                                                                                                                                                                                                                          
  • We offer theming and/or a flexible itinerary for private groups. Options include earlier departure times or local activity add-ons, such as scenic boat tours, paintballing, carting, etc. Ideal for Corporate Xmas parties, Bachelor / Bachelorette events
